Denis Wood curated the Power of Maps exhibition for the Smithsonian and wrote The Power of Maps (1992).He has written about maps and indigenous rights in Rethinking the Power of Maps (2010) and most recently in Weaponizing Maps (2015) which he authored with Joe Bryan. This tells the story of the weaponization of maps by the US military across the Americas, and their use against local populations. A former professor of design at North Carolina State University, Wood is currently an independent scholar living in Raleigh, North Carolina.
