I have accompanied the Indigenous communities as an environmental activist for many years. My specific focus is mining extraction, its construction, representation and uses of territory. In my work with Colombia’s Indigenous nations I have known the important efforts and contributions in community mapping that communities of the south west of the country have made since the 1970s. I have worked to better understand these experiences and incorporate them in the defense of territory and waters articulated by the WayĂșu people in the face of the expansion of the coal industry in their territory as well as by the resguardos of the north of the Department of Cauca against the expansion of gold mining.
